Santa Barbara is a great place to raise a family – that much is clear. The immense outdoors, access to larger metropolitan areas, and recreational options provide endless opportunities for our Central Coast kids. It seems like things are translating pretty seamlessly to the classrooms, too. California’s standardized test results reflect glowing scores from Cold Spring and Montecito Union School districts - way to go!
Our local school districts have consistently ranked in the top tiers in California, even throughout the pandemic. While the last few years have proven unique for students and families of all ages due to shifts in learning dynamics, the dedication of hardworking teachers, staff, and parents has kept our students on a shimmering path to success.
Excellence in Education
Cold Spring and Montecito Union School Districts consistently come out on top in state reports, showing steady growth in both English and Math scores schoolwide. While many areas across the state struggled to see improvement following historical learning interruptions, Cold Spring, in particular, maintained its high-performing baseline and pushed scores even higher.
In previous cycles, 67% of students exceeded the state standard in reading, and within a few short years of dedicated refinement, that performance standard climbed significantly to 70%.
A Foundation built on Stability
Local leaders have attributed our students’ ongoing success to the schools' ability to keep doors open and maintain structural stability. Having navigated past regional fire and mudslide challenges, the districts have mastered the art of providing a safe refuge and stable anchor for local families.
Offering progressive outdoor learning options allowed students to remain inspired, highly socialized, and entirely focused on growth. These test milestones are the true fruit of labor from our local educators, community leaders, and hardworking families—cultivating an environment where children can truly thrive.
