A Guide to 2025 Summer Camps: Adventure and Learning Under the Sun.

As 2025 came faster than we knew, summertime will, too, as life gets ahead of us and planning for our little ones is always coming first, we thought rather than searching far and wide for the best camp that, we would lay out some of the best picks right in front of you.

The city of Santa Barbara offers a wide range of summer activities for ages 5 to 17, including beach camps, pickleball, arts, and entrepreneurship. Many more options are available; here are a few we suggest!

ART Camps

Campers that either want to be in the show or run it can attend the Carrillo Recreation Center and learn the ins and outs of acting, happening Daily and multiple sessions to attend, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. They will pick a show of their choice and put on a special performance for you at the end!

With creativity and a release of energy at the Carousel House, kids can be introduced to a morning of multiple varieties of art, from painting to plant pressing, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 5 to 13 can enroll. The fun doesn't end there as in afternoons before pickup, kids head to the beach for an afternoon of running in the sand!

If some want to explore and enjoy the beach every day, they can enroll in the beach camp from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 5-14 are welcome and will experience days in the water and playing at the park!

If your kids love the beach but want to get more involved in their swimming strengths, Junior Lifeguard registration opens on February 3rd. With multiple tryout dates and two different sessions, Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 2 pm, this training program is for ages 7 to 17. It will teach kids essential skills in ocean safety, first aid, and CPR. They will also learn about marine life and the environment to preserve and protect where they will be learning this summer!

If your camper wants more education and underwater exploration or is younger, looking to strengthen water skills, and ready for hands-on all-day experience from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Paddlesports Center hosts kids ages 5 to 14 who will take kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling, all while learning about the ocean they swim in!

sport Camps

With the fastest-growing sport and one of the most popular here in Santa Barbara, get your kids to improve their pickleball skills. Ages 8-17 can learn to play or improve their game while meeting new kids to enjoy the sport at Santa Barbara Municipal Tennis courts from 9 am to 12 pm and multiple sessions to work with your schedule.

Another great half-day camp for kids ages 6-12 at Skater's Point. Your campers will learn how to safely and properlyshred all morning, starting at 9:00 am and to 12:00 pm. All skill levels are welcome whether they got a skateboard for Christmas or maybe the next Tony Hawk!

To our girls ready to make change at their young ages, from 6-12, they can learn the fundamentals of what it'll take to start a business. At the McKenzie Center Monday through Friday, with multiple sessions to accommodate, these girls can create and sell whatever they make.

Our juniors and teens looking to give back to their community, ages 13-17 can get involved as junior counselors. This is a great early opportunity to build leadership skills and qualities that they can take with them for the rest of their lives. They will be gone from 9:00 am-4:00 pm and can learn to gain independence with such a rewarding experience.

Since these camps are sponsored by Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation, scholarships and financial assistance are available for eligible participants. If additional support is needed due to hardship, the scholarship application can help ease those challenges.
